Australian Rugby Star Lost Multi-Million Contract For Posting A Christian Message On Instagram

Australian Rugby Star Israel Folau posted an image on his Instagram calling every sinner to repent that cost him multi-million dollars contract!

This is not the first time that Israel got into controversy due to his faith but this time, he had to pay a huge price.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

On April 10, Israel posted an image on Instagram with a message based on 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. On his post, he was calling all the sinners to repentance.

“Those that are living in Sin will end up in Hell unless you repent. Jesus Christ loves you and is giving you time to turn away from your sin and come to him,” Israel stated on his caption.

Rugby AU CEO Raelene Castle statement

Rugby AU CEO Raelene Castle stated her disappointments about Israel’s actions. It was clear for Israel that he wasn’t supposed to post Christian messages according to their deal with Raelene.

“It’s very disappointing from my perspective because I had a very direct and specific conversation with him about the expectations that I had,” Raelene said. “He accepted that conversation, he said that he’d understood that conversation, he shook my hand at the end of that conversation, said he was very clear with it and yet he has gone off and done what he’s done.”

Raelene and Israel’s coach feared that his message has offended the gay community. But Realene emphasized that they were not discriminating the religion of Israel.

“This is not a religious discussion, this is a discussion around the employee, employer relationship and the values in the contractual arrangements within that agreement,” she said. “That’s on the basis on which we have served him a breach notice.”

Israel’s multi-million dollar contract is canceled.

“[Isarel] had committed a high-level breach of the Professional Players’ Code of Conduct warranting termination of his employment contract,” Realene added.

“I live for God now”

Although Isarel loves the sport, his love for Jesus Christ is greater.

“First and foremost, I live for God now. Whatever He wants me to do, I believe His plans for me are better than whatever I can think. If that’s not to continue on playing, so be it. In saying that, obviously I love playing footy and if it goes down that path I’ll definitely miss it. But my faith in Jesus Christ is what comes first,” Israel stated.

The committed Christian argues he was unfairly dismissed on religious grounds. He is seeking $10 million in damages from RA and wants his contract reinstated.
