A bride-to-be took early wedding photos in her wedding dress with her grandmother days before she passed away.
Tara Foley was about to get married when her 103-years-old grandmother was put in hospice. It was her nana’s dream to attend her granddaughter’s wedding day but since her heart is failing, the medical staff did not allow her to fly. But what the bride-to-be decided to do for her grandmother touched thousands!
“I knew in my heart she was trying to hang on to get there somehow. I decided to fly to her with my wedding dress, it was unaltered and didn’t fit yet but none of that mattered,” Tara said in her Facebook post.
Tara flew to where her nana is in her unfinished wedding dress to take early wedding photos. The joy of her nana to see her lovely granddaughter in her wedding dress was captured by the photos.
“Words cannot explain how much these moments mean to me and I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life. Her smile and her laugh are forever etched in my mind and the love between us will live in my heart,” she added.
Just 27 days after the photoshoot happened, she passed away. But the bride-to-be and her nana were able to say goodbye to each other during that day.
“When I said goodbye to her that night, I think we both knew it would be the last time we would see each other. She grabbed my cheeks with her hands, looked me straight in the eye and said ‘I love you very much’,” Tara recalled.
The wedding day
Tara has been keeping this moment secret to her family to surprise them during her wedding day with the photos. Tara was married to her groom, Matthew Bars, on July 1 and it was also the day she surprised her family with the photo. The moment she showed their photo to her family was very emotional.
“I’ll never find the right words to express the love and emotions we all felt when I shared the photos with my family on my wedding day,” she said.
This just shows the extraordinary things you could do because of love. Share this story to inspire others!
