Woman Gets Engaged To Husband Again After Brain Injury Caused Her To Forget Him

A woman from Canada gets engaged to her husband again after having a traumatic brain injury that caused her to forget him. Their story would teach us how unconditional love looks like and that love is a choice.

When they first fell in love

Laura Hart and Brayden James first fell in love with each other in 2015. They started to write letters to each other since Brayden is in South Africa for a church mission and Laura was in Brussels to visit her parents for the summer.

Laura Hart and Brayden James first fell in love with each other in 2015. They started to write letters to each other since Brayden is in South Africa for a church mission and Laura was in Brussels to visit her parents for the summer.

Later on, they moved back to Victoria, Canada and soon started dating. On April 2016, Brayden asked Laura to be his wife and she said yes! They got married on July 15, 2016, and lived a happy life together as husband and wife.

The terrible accident

But just after 9 months from their wedding day, Laura got in a bad accident while helping a family friend to set up a company event. A huge pole fell down directly to her head causing her to lose all her memories. The next thing she remembered is that she woke up thinking that she’s still 17-years-old, not knowing who Brayden was.

“My memory of meeting, falling in love with, and marrying Brayden was gone. I remember waking up and seeing Brayden. A rush of panic took over my body, I couldn’t say a single word. ‘Who are you?!,’ I wanted to scream,” Laura remembered.

Laura spent the next two years relearning how to read, write and coping with being married to a stranger.

“Due to my memory loss, I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that I’m married to someone I don’t truly know. I went through a period of anger and depression; I felt like so much had been ripped away from me. I desperately hoped my memory would come back, that someday I would look at Brayden and remember everything. Unfortunately, that has yet to happen,” she added.

Falling in love all over again

After some time, Laura saw how patient and kind Brayden is to her and eventually she wanted to fall in love again to her husband. So she confronted Brayden to tell him that she wanted to date him.

“I took off my rings, approached my husband, and said, ‘Brayden, I want to date you,’” she said.

They started to date again and eventually fall in love again to each other.

“Brayden became my best friend, and then my crush, and then my love. I haven’t miraculously gotten my memory and all my old feelings for him back, but I have new feelings and new memories. I’ve learned that love is a choice, and I am choosing to love Brayden,” Laura said.

On August 19, Laura announced on her Facebook post that she got engaged to her husband again!

“Today he proposed to me (again), and I said yes (again)! I’m so grateful for our new beginning and for the happy future we have ahead of us,” she added.
